The Troy Community Land Bank (TCLB) continues to make tremendous strides in revitalizing vacant properties throughout our city!

A month ago, TCLB completed a critical roofing project at 17 Park Avenue, a key step in stabilizing the building. For years, this property had been marked with a red “X,” indicating it was unsafe for firefighters to enter. With the new roof now in place, we’ve proudly removed the “X,” signaling that this building—and others like it—are on the path to safety and stability!

TCLB’s work is focused on saving these historic buildings and stabilizing Troy’s housing stock. By preventing these properties from further deterioration, we help ensure that housing options in the city remain available, so our community’s growth isn’t stifled by a lack of homes. This is a key part of our effort to improve the city’s infrastructure and address housing shortages, ultimately benefiting everyone who calls Troy home.

We’re actively working with the Troy Fire Department, local Code Enforcement, and other partners to ensure these properties meet safety standards and are ready for future development.

A major factor in this revitalization effort is the support New York State Homes & Community Renewal (HCR), which has provided vital funding for these projects. HCR’s Land Bank Initiative has been instrumental in helping TCLB secure the resources needed to stabilize these properties and protect the future of Troy’s housing market. We are grateful for their continued commitment to the city’s revitalization.

TCLB has listed 17 Park Avenue for sale and is actively seeking a developer to restore the building and bring it back into productive use. We’re excited about the opportunity to further invest in Troy’s infrastructure and create long-term value for the community.

A special thank you to Troy’s leadership, including Mayor Carmella Mantello, City Council President Sue Steele, Deputy Fire Chief Jared Barringer, TCLB Board Chair Jamie Magur, TCLB Board Member Brian Sano, and local firefighters, who joined the celebration at 17 Park Avenue to mark this important milestone.
